Neeson Pleased At Jobs Boost

Alliance Economy Spokesperson Séan Neeson has hailed the creation of around 60 new jobs in information technology which will be coming to Belfast and Londonderry. The jobs are to be created by Singularity, who are Derry-based and produce software.

Séan Neeson MLA stated: "I strongly welcome this announcement. It is all the more welcome given the difficult economic global climate that currently exists.

Jobs To Be Created

Dozens of new Belfast jobs are to be made available through the creation of a social economy village, it has been announced.

Work West secured £1.4 million in funding from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and the International Fund for Ireland (IFI) as well as EU Peace and Reconciliation money to help create the 15,000 square foot building.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, it revealed that up to 36 new jobs will be created in the short-term future.

NYSE Opens Belfast Office

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has today announced plans for a “satellite office” in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which is set to create around 325 jobs.

The news will be welcomed by officials and ministers from the Northern Ireland executive who have been fighting hard for more US investment in the province as part of the peace process.

The major investment comes 18 months after NYSE purchased Belfast software firm, Wombat for $200 million (£123 million).

Hotel Jobs Created

A total of 50 hotel jobs have been created in Belfast after budget chain Ibis launched two properties in the city.

The first, located on King Street, has already opened and its counterpart in the Queen's Quarter is set to welcome guests within weeks.

Northern Ireland also looks set for a further hotel jobs boost as Ibis is planning to open three more hotels in the next few years.
