Mentors engage with local people who are out of work and have barriers to employment. Our team of Mentoring & Employment Officers work throughout West Belfast with local people out of work to identify and break down barriers to finding and keeping work. They undertake one-to-one mentoring to remove barriers to employment including initial assessments, designing personal action plans and supporting people to gain and sustain employment through:
- Careers advice and guidance
- Goal setting
- Writing a CV
- Jobsearch
- Developing training plans for people to develop skills
- Help with organising and paying for training courses
- Help with essential skills such as reading, writing, maths and IT
- Job matching
- Application form filling
- Interview techniques
The Mentoring Team are passionate about delivering our service to people in the heart of the community, building a trusting relationship, stimulating people’s thinking and believing that a positive attitude and self belief in each person helps them to make important decisions about their training, career or education. They also understand that assessing the current skills and aspirations of people provides an essential basis on which to move forward.
